🏅 Custom Scoring: You Decide What Every Letter Is Worth
The Master can give each letter a value from 1 to 10 and choose which letters are in play: letters without a value are never drawn.
Alongside Standard Scarabeo, Official Scrabble and Random, the “🏅 Scoring System” menu now has a new entry: “Custom”. Choosing it opens, right below, a table with ten rows, one for each value from 1 to 10, in the same colours as the Letter Scores page.
To assign a value, just tap the right row and type the letters: they are added one after another like tiles, and the row you’re typing in is highlighted. The ⌫ key removes the last letter you added, Del the first. If you type a letter in one row that you had already put somewhere else, it moves to the new row by itself: every letter always has a single value. Only the 26 letters of the alphabet can be used, without accents; accented vowels are already handled by the word checker. It works with the computer keyboard, the phone keyboard and the controller’s virtual keyboard too. The table starts empty: you decide from scratch what every letter is worth.
Letters that don’t appear in any row have no value, so they are never drawn: an easy way to play, for example, without Q or without Z. On the other hand, you can add letters the room’s language doesn’t normally use, like K or W in Italian, and they will be drawn like all the others. The panel warns you if a whole type of letter is missing: you can still play without vowels or without consonants, and during the game the button for the missing type simply doesn’t appear.
In the lobby and in the preset mode details the scoring system shows as “Custom”: tap it to open the table with the value of every letter, so everyone knows in advance what they’re writing is worth. Like all the other settings, custom scoring is saved in your configurations and reloaded with a click.
