🪙💳 Buying Letters Even Without Points
A new option for the Host: let players with too few points still buy extra letters, even going negative.
Buying extra letters used to be called “🎲 Extra Letter Draw”, but the name no longer did justice to what it had become over time: a real marketplace mechanic within the match. From today it’s called “🪙 Buy Extra Letters”, and it comes with a new rule for those who love riskier games.
Until yesterday, buying an extra letter required enough points: if the cost was higher than your score, the button simply stayed disabled. From today the Host can enable, in the panel dedicated to who can buy private letters, a new switch: “💳 Allow Buying Even Without Enough Points”. It stays off by default, so nothing changes for those who play normally, but once enabled it lets anyone buy letters even without the required credit, going well into negative territory — without that making it possible to win the match, since the final score is still what counts. The choice is also visible at a glance in the public room list, alongside all the other active rules.
While we were at it, we also fixed a small technical detail: the cost of the extra letter can now be set to zero, for those who want to give away free letters without unnecessary restrictions — the only limit left is that it can’t be negative.
One more rule for those who want even more unpredictable matches, where risk matters just as much as vocabulary.
